It’s really important that we’re reminded of the importance of stepping out of our hoola-hoop every now and then – because all progress takes place outside our comfort zone, agreed?
When Lloyd Hazell & Tasha Harris were offered £30,000 for a 45% share of their company by Dragons Den star Sarah Willingham, a few years back, they were ecstatic.
Lloyd & Tasha are a young couple from Essex who went into the Den wanting investment for their coffee scrub, which is used to treat and ease eczema.
It was proven to have really effective results and would go on to be the only product of its kind on the market.
Like with most triumphs though, there’s usually a BUT, a pitfall, a hurdle…
The couple were later abandoned by the Dragon who doubted the product and its potential.
They were left with no financial support or any business advice and had to rely on just £10 in the bank, credit and guess work to get the business up and running.
However, the couple were determined to make this business a success – and that’s exactly what they have gone on to do!
They used social media to generate interest and expose the brand and within a few months, they were contacted by Boots who wanted to stock their product!
After the show aired the couple were inundated with sales.
Their range of products are now stocked in 20 countries worldwide, including 10,000 stores in America.
The company has been valued at £10million; they employ 10 staff; have a huge social media following and most importantly, are enjoying a MASSIVE sense of achievement.
This is a great demonstration of how potential barriers will not get in your way if you are on a mission to succeed…AND you’re prepared to stretch outside your zone of comfort.
